According to reports, Marquinhos is eager to leave Paris Saint-Germain after the club’s executives became enraged by his remarks regarding Kylian Mbappe’s predicament.
The club is convinced that the French striker will not leave on a free transfer in 2024, and he has made it clear that he will not sign a contract extension at the Parc des Princes. Due to the impasse, the striker has been dropped from the starting lineup, and the Ligue 1 champions have even left Mbappe off of their preseason tour roster.
In the midst of the confusion, Marquinhos gave his opinion on the matter in a news conference, stating that he wanted to keep playing with Mbappe. The PSG management did not like the comments. The club is reportedly eager to sell the defender now that his remarks have been judged to be unsupportive of the team given the present situation, according to Sports Zone.
The Parisians’ internal criticism of Marquinhos for his lack of leadership following their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the 2021–22 season came from within the club. The team wants new blood to replace the 29-year-old since they feel the defender hasn’t been able to reach his full potential since Thomas Tuchel left in December 2020.
Marquinhos has been a member of PSG since 2013, and his 10-year career at the Parc des Princes, where he has amassed numerous domestic honours, including eight Ligue 1 titles, would come to an end if he is traded this summer.
