Match Preview
After an uncharacteristic period of struggle, Juventus hopes to get back on track in the 2022/23 Serie A season when they host Sassuolo in their first match later today.
While the Bianconeri finished fourth for the second consecutive season, their visitors finished 11th despite some typically enterprising performances, including a 2-1 win over Juve in October.
Juve are coming off a summer transfer window in which they made some unusual moves. The headline arrival being Paul Pogba, but the Frenchman is not yet fit to return to the field in the white and black.
Angel Di Maria and Filip Kostic also joined Allegri’s revolution and will be looking to make an immediate impact.
Meanwhile, Sassuolo lost Gianluca Scamacca, their top scorer last season but replaced him with talented South American youngster Agustin Alvarez. With Filip Djuricic out, it will be up to star player Domenico Berardi to make the difference.
Alessio Dionisi will be looking to improve on his finish from last season. Starting with making an early statement with a win in Turin on the first day.
Juventus are no longer the force they once were, as they have recently been brought back down to earth. Given Juve’s injuries, the game has a more balanced feel to it and has the potential to be the first Serie A upset of the season.
