France vs Morocco preview & prediction

Match preview

On Tuesday, August 8, the Round of 16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place at the Hindmarsh Stadium with France taking on Morocco.

France finished fourth in 2011 and the previous two iterations saw them go to the quarterfinals. To make up for their surprising draw against Jamaica in their Group F opener, Les Bleues defeated Brazil 2-1.

They defeated Panama 6-3 to finish their group stage campaign. In their lone prior meeting, France destroyed Morocco 6-0.

Morocco’s campaign, however, got off to a disastrous 6-0 loss in their Group H opener to Germany. The team has now proven many people incorrect, as they are still in the tournament.

The Lionesses of Atlas have exceeded expectations for a World Cup debutant team. They defeated South Korea and Colombia by scores of 1-0 to advance to the Round of 16. Morocco’s manager Reynard Pedros acknowledges that France is a difficult foe, but says:

“At this stage, you don’t have to fear anyone.”

France vs Morocco prediction

The most successful women’s club in Europe, the Legion from Lyon, will be relied upon by France. The attack will be led by Kadidiatou Diani, who is aiming for her third goal, while Eugenie Le Sommer, a creative midfielder (one goal), is also anticipated to play a significant role.

Morocco, meanwhile, has evidently strengthened its defence after being humiliated by Germany. To go further, they must however score more goals.

Due to their better quality and reputation, France will start as the favourite.

  • FRANCE TO WIN@ 1.16
  • DRAW@ 7.82
