Colombia vs Jamaica preview & prediction

Match preview

On Tuesday, August 8, Colombia will face Jamaica at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium in the round of 16.

For the second time, Colombia is in the round of 16. In 2015, when they made their second participation in the World Cup, they were unable to get past this level. They are, however, beginning as determined competitors this time and might prove to be a formidable force in Australia and New Zealand.

They defeated South Korea 2-0 in their opening match before shocking defending champion Germany 2-1 to affirm their credentials. Despite losing 1-0 to Morocco in their final game, they eventually won Group H with six points.

Jamaica and Colombia have faced off twice, with each winning once.

Group F was expected to be dominated by France and Brazil, with Jamaica and Panama slated to be the first teams to pack up and go. To the dismay of the Europeans, commentators soon revised their projections when Jamaica defeated France in the group opener, which ended scoreless.

With victories over Panama and yet another scoreless tie, this time against Brazil, the Reggae Girlz demonstrated that the outcome was not accidental.

Jamaica finished in second place, five points behind France (seven points), earning a spot in the World Cup’s Round of 16. The resilient islanders should not be taken for granted by Colombia.

Columbia vs Jamaica prediction

Colombia’s attacker Caicedo of Real Madrid has been a game-changer, scoring twice in the group round. Due to her velocity, she is challenging to contain.

Another offensive menace to be on the lookout for is Catalina Usme. She has scored one goal and, most impressively, defeated 71 German pressuring attempts.

With 13 saves against France and 17 against Germany, Jamaica’s goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer has been a great asset. Trudi Carter and Allyson Swaby have produced one goal and one assist, which is impressive.

The favourite to win, though, will be Colombia because of their superior qualification.
