Southampton in advanced talks to sign Joe Aribo

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo might be on his way to the English Premier League to play for Southampton.

Southampton are said to be in “advanced talks” and “a deal is close to being agreed” for a £10 million agreement that includes “performance-related add-ons,” according to Sky Sports.

There have been suggestions that the player wants to leave Rangers in Scotland, with the EPL being his favourite destination.

Aribo joined Rangers on a free transfer in 2019 after leaving Charlton, but the 25-year-old is eager to return to England and hopes the Southampton trade goes through.

Southampton are now ‘confident’ of signing the Nigerian on a four-year contract after making good progress in Scotland. While the Saints appear to be in pole position, some other clubs are in talks with Rangers, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, and Fulham are also interested.

Rangers’ contract with the midfielder expires at the end of the new season.

Joe Aribo will depart the Scottish Premiership club with a respectable individual record of 17 goals and 18 assists in 83 league appearances – as well as club honours that include the league title and the Scottish Cup.
