Sacked Chelsea boss Potter jets out of UK

Graham Potter, the recently fired Chelsea manager, apparently looked up the outcome of the Blues’ match versus Liverpool while en route to the Maldives.

On April 2, a day after Aston Villa defeated the Pensioners 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, Chelsea fired Potter as manager. Little over six months after his appointment, Potter lost his job as a result of the loss, which dropped the west Londoners to 11th place in the standings. The Sun claims that Potter’s dismissal cost the Blues a lot of money since they had to pay him a hefty £13 million in severance.

According to reports, the former manager of Brighton & Hove Albion used £20,000 of his large salary to treat his family to a five-star vacation in the Maldives. Potter apparently looked up the Premier League matchup between Chelsea and Liverpool after boarding a flight to the Maldives in Dubai (April 4).

A source said:

“Graham certainly wasn’t cracking open the champagne, and, if anything, looked a little glum. He perked up during the flight — perhaps knowing Chelsea still struggled without him gave him a lift.”

They added:

“He played games with his son and also had a snooze. He was last on the plane and first off, disappearing in a private bus.”

Since being hired from Brighton in September, Potter has taken charge of the Premier League’s stalwarts 31 times. During his reign, the 2021 Champions League champions only scored 1.42 points per game on average.
