Joao Felix unsure of Chelsea future

Joao Felix acknowledges that he is still unsure of his long-term plans and is doubtful whether Chelsea will extend his loan from Atletico Madrid permanently in the summer.

The Portuguese international was signed by Chelsea on a season-long loan last month for a cost of £9 million.

Fexlix was dismissed 58 minutes into his debut in Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Fulham on January 12, earning him a three-game suspension.

The 23-year-old is available for Saturday’s Premier League match between Chelsea and West Ham, and he has been included in the club’s 25-man Champions League squad for the knockout round.

Felix claims he rapidly acclimated to Chelsea after speaking with manager Graham Potter early on, but he acknowledges that the club will need to negotiate a separate contract with Atletico at the end of the current campaign.

They don’t have a purchase option, Chelsea. In an interview with AS, Felix stated that they would need to come to an arrangement with Atletico.

“I’ve only been here a month or a few weeks.” I am constantly learning. I am completely at ease, yet nobody can predict the future. It took me a long time to get used to the playing style, so I was already seeking a change of scenery.

My head was already full from working so hard and failing, so I quit [Atletico] because of that. It had to be in this market, and I believe it has benefited Atletico as well as myself. Contrary to popular belief, Miguel [Angel Gil, CEO of Atletico] has always had a great deal of faith in me. My relationship with him is good. I am grateful that he allowed me to go at this time because I needed to. Miguel has always had faith in me, and I believe he still has it. He views me as Athletico’s best chance, but we’ll see.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen in my life, and I don’t know what’s going to happen with Cholo [Diego Simeone], like I said, we’ll have to wait until June,”.

Felix said when asked about his initial thoughts on Chelsea, “It is a magnificent club, as we all know. Everything is provided, and the amenities are excellent. They surround the team with a large number of individuals, which ensures that everything runs smoothly and makes a difference. It is extremely well organised. Graham Potter called me into his office on one of my first days. We were discussing his strategy and his plan for me. He described to me the team’s activities and how they play.

I thought it was great that he talked to me. He demonstrates his qualities as a wonderful coach and a very good person.
