Erling Haaland is not at his best – Pep Guardiola

Despite scoring two goals in yesterday’s night match against Leeds United, Pep Guardiola believes his star striker Erling Haaland isn’t yet at his best.

The Norwegian continued his fine form this season in front of goal with a brace to help Manchester City cruise to a 3-1 victory at Leeds United on Wednesday, closing the gap between them and title contenders and Premier League leaders Arsenal to five points

Pep Guardiola claimed Erling Haaland is still not back to his best after injury he suffered at Dortmund and earlier this season.

Guardiola had this to say about the said player who has now scored 26 goals in 20 appearances for City in all competitions since his summer switch from Dortmund, “He misses chances, but the numbers are exceptional.

“He’s an incredible threat for us and always in the right position at the right time, really good.

“I think he is still not at his best because of the injury, to move his huge body is not easy for him, but as much as he can play minutes, (he) will be better.

“I have the feeling he is not at his best, It is a matter of time. Always an incredible threat for the opponent.

“Of course we are delighted, but that little (bit of extra) pace he had at the beginning of the season, he struggles a little bit.

“I am still more than satisfied, but the first part of the season he was sharper. He is getting better, an incredible professional. He takes care of his body and mind.”
