Frappart Named as First Woman to Referee the French Cup Final

The French league has appointed Stephanie Frappart as the official referee for the French Cup final between OGC Nice and Nantes on May 7, 2022.

Pascal Garibian, the technical director of refereeing at the French Football Federation (FFF) said in a statement that “her appointment rewards both her work and her performance”.

In 2019, the 38 years old was the first female to referee a Ligue 1 game. She also took charge of the UEFA Super Cup that year and a men’s Champions League match in 2020.

She said she was “glad and delighted” to be nominated to take charge of the encounter between Nice and Nantes at the Stade de France in Paris.

Frappart has also been named to the panel of referees for the women’s Euro, which will take place in July.
